Job Description

The MySpace.com Data Services team is responsible for data architecture, data infrastructure and operations for all MySpace.com data systems. The candidate will be a member of the Data Mining team, and he will be responsible for designing and building data mining solutions, highly scalable distributed backend systems like recommendation, prediction engines and other internal tools. 

Responsibilities will include requirements gathering, working with very large data sets in a data warehouse federation environment, daily maintenance, monitoring, performance analysis, trouble shooting, problem resolution, data recovery, present and future capacity planning for all of the resources required of the data mining systems being managed.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• MS in CS or equivalent industry experience 

• Expert in social network analysis, machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, graph theory, algorithms, collaborative filtering

• At least 5 years experience with Analysis Services or other data mining tools, and at least one year in Data Mining with Analysis Services 2005, with practical application of all major new features in Analysis Services 2005. Extensive practical experience with creating data mining solutions with very large data sets. 

• one of the .NET languages, preferably C#, with experience developing applications that work with heterogeneous data sources, extracting data and working in conjunction with SQL Server, Service Broker, Notification Services. Also developing functions in CLR.

• Good TSQL skills, including writing functions and stored procedures in SQL Server 2005, in production completed projects. 

• Proficient with TSQL, including the latest features released in SQL Server 2005, and constructing optimized queries against large data sets (over 10 million rows tables joins)

• Proficient in gathering clear requirements from executives for reports and anticipating the true needs and wants. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability and willingness to keep complete documentation for the projects involved

• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate mining results to business
